Paleomagnetism and rock magnetism as tools for volcanology

چکیده
Abstract Paleomagnetic and rock magnetic methods for studying volcanoes their products have been developed since the second half of twentieth century. These used to find tephra in sediment cores, date volcanic eruptions deposits, determine emplacement temperatures estimate flow directions dikes, lava flows, pyroclastic deposits. In twenty-first century, these techniques steadily improved expanded, resulting more probing precise studies using paleomagnetism. We believe that continual improvement existing increased awareness interest paleomagnetic should allow enhance understanding processes.

VarPy: A Python library for volcanology and rock physics data analysis
VarPy is an open-source toolbox which provides a Python framework for analysing volcanology and rock physics data. It provides several functions, which allow users to define their own workflows to develop models, analyses and visualisations. The goal of the VarPy library is to accelerate the uptake of computational methods by researchers in volcanology and rock physics. It does this via two mec...
متن کاملRock fragmentation and optimization of drilling tools
In this chapter possibilities of the improvement of drilling tool efficiency on the basis of the analysis of mechanisms of rock destruction and some methods of the information theory are considered. Physical mechanisms of destruction of hard and plastic rocks under different conditions of mechanical loading are reviewed. Some physical effects which allow to improve the efficiency of rock drilli...

متن کاملRange Sections as Rock Models for Intensity Rock Scene Segmentation
This paper presents another approach to segmenting a scene of rocks on a conveyor belt for the purposes of measuring rock size. Rock size estimation instruments are used to monitor, optimize and control milling and crushing in the mining industry. We propose a joint analysis of range and intensity images of rocks where sections extracted from range images are used to guide a Model-driven intens...
